We're getting terribly excited. Just one more week to go and the Diamond Jubilee is upon us, and yes we're feeling very very patriotic.
Everywhere we go we spot another Union Jack or crown...
We never cease to be excited by another tasteful discovery of another special edition food or drink.
And who knows our backyard may just look like this over the Jubilee weekend...
Let's hope so... Lots of baking to be done in the meantime.
So here's our round-up of the limited editions out there this special year for Great Britain...
Our absolute favourite in number 1 position: Lyle's Golden Syrup, Limited Edition.
In our household, most often used to make delicious flapjacks
We can never ignore some bunting... For our latest recipes using cheddar, check this cute one out
Number 3: Angostura Bitters and their iconic bottle
Subtle elegance and for me, total refreshment on a hot scorching day, to drink lemon, lime and bitters:
Number 4: Tracklements in a Right Royal Pickle...
The perfect accompaniment to a cheese and right pickle sandwich.
Now on the subject of sandwiches, afternoon teas and well, bread, Kingsmill have brought out their Queensmill... Perfect for those neat little cucumber sandwiches I know I will be making. (Don't forget the light drizzle of vinegar to bring out the flavour - steady hand required)
So that sneaks in at number 5, although the packaging is a little disappointing and not that patriotic..
Number 6 - Morrisons Celebration Victoria Cake
- perfect for all those afternoon teas you'll be having, along with that essential cuppa -
A clever crown created with a fine dusting of icing sugar...
The Diamond Jubilee would not be complete without Coronation Chicken for that street party.
So at Number 7 - Schwartz Coronation Chicken Recipe Mix
Number 8 - Chow Olives, the pre-dinner olives, ok not typically British in terms of diet, but one of my favourite nibbles...
Number 9 - Berry Bros and Rudd Port - limited edition Royal Diamond Tawny Port, 1952
and finally at number 10 for those not into Port, a welcome cup of tea...
