Now our mantra matches that of Mission, we believe that life is what you make it. The choice is yours which route you take: Routine and humdrum OR exciting and FUN! We know which route we'll take as at Lunchbox World, we've been here helping you put the FUN back into packed lunches since 2009.
So we want you to grab a wrap and have some FUN too!
The Challenges this week are:
1) Theme your lunch on a different country each day for a week. For inspiration, check out the Mission Foods facebook page for some of our new recipes themed around the different exotic destinations you can win as part of our Lunch Less Ordinary Promotion
2) Put unusual flavours together in a wrap and get the kids to eat them blindfolded. They need to guess what the weird but it works flavours are. Best of 3 ‘what’s that wrap’ wins! And whatever their favourite is goes in Monday’s lunchbox. Yum!
3) Make a wrap based on your favourite book or film – e.g. The Italian Job – Green Rocket, White Mozzarella and Red Tomatoes
4) Can you make a ‘free lunch’? We’ll send you some wraps as a starting point and then ask friends and family to donate one item each and see what you can create – the weirder the better! ‘Ready, Steady, Cook’
*Remember, we are looking for the most creative, outgoing and less ordinary content so make sure you include photos/videos and make your blog stand out from the crowd!*
So we put our thinking caps on, had a family conference and agreed we'd do challenges 1 and 3. So firstly we came up with our inspiration for the week: 7 countries in 7 days! And it's been one marathon week, a true labour of love, creating a week's worth of exotic destinations all inspired by the latest competition currently running on the Mission Wraps UK Facebook page.
We've created just some of the locations that can be won as prizes in the Mission Wraps UK competition - the Camel Race in Morocco, visiting the Taj Mahal, exploring the Amazon Jungle and celebrating La Tomatina Festival in Valencia - just some of the prizes on offer. We just wanted to show what can be created with a few choice veggies and fruit that most of you will be able to find in your fridge.
Our stock of ingredients were:
Mission Deli Wraps - we had mini's, Mediterranean and the Wheat and White and Originals to choose from (most of which we bought ourselves)
Mixed bag of peppers - red, yellow, orange, mini ones and regular sized
Cucumbers
Tomatoes - cherry and regular
Carrots
Babybel Gouda - for the full moon!
We used a sharp knife, chopping board, philadelphia to act as the glue, a dash of creativity and loads of patience!
A big thank you has to go to our oldest budding artist, Tuna, who is studying GCSE Art, and created London, New York, Paris, India and Ecuador.
Let's hope this has inspired you to have a go and create a less ordinary lunch for yourself. We had amazing fun creating them and we hope you love reading this!
As you can appreciate, this has turned into a true labour of love!
Here you can see just part of one creation in the making that we speeded up to see how intricate and fiddly it can be.
OR turn it in to a pizza like we did, pop in a hot oven (190C) for about 6 minutes until the mozarella cheese has melted and / or the wrap has turned crispy golden around the edges. You will need to keep an eye on your creation though so as not to let it spoil! Serve with a side salad, garlic bread and whatever else you fancy!
So what food art can you come up with using a humble deli wrap and a few choice ingredients?
